COLLEGE / INSTITUTION AND HOSPITAL
ADMINISTRATION
1. The Principal/ Head of institution will be the academic and administrative
head of the college and Chairman of its Academic Council. He/she will also be
the overall in charge of attached hospitals for the purpose of teaching and
related matters and will be the Chairman of the Hospital Committee.
2. The composition of College Academic Council will be as under:
Where as the LUMHS Academic Council will be constituted and function according
to its charter.
(i) It will be composed of all the full time Professors of the college. The
Principal may co-opt, any in charge of department/unit chief on the Academic
Council if there is no full-time professor. The Medical Superintendent of the
attached hospital can be co-opted as a member of college Academic Council.
(ii) The Principal of the college will be the Chairman at all the meetings of
the council, and in his absence the Vice-Principal will preside.
(iii) One of the members of the council will be elected as Secretary for a
period of three years.
(iv) The Secretary will be responsible for recording of all minutes of the
meetings, and keep record of all the proceedings of the meetings and proceedings
of every year bound together in a labeled register.
(v) An Executive Committee of not more than five members can be constituted by
the Principal for discussing academic, day to day and disciplinary matters of
the college. This committee shall have all the powers and carry out all
functions of Academic Council which are here after mentioned.
3. Functions of the College Academic Council:-
(i) The Council will determine the requirement of medical education in the light
of higher policy direction and the University/Pakistan Medical and Dental
Council requirements from time to time.
(ii) It will discuss ways and means to improve the standard of medical education
and facilities pertaining to the institution.
(iii) It will lay down a general plan of implementation of medical education
policy including syllabi of various subjects for students, distribution of
duties of teaching staff, college terms and vacations, examination etc., and
also discuss other matters connected with the curricular activities of the
college.
(iv) It will lay down policy for award of scholarships, fee concessions etc.
(v) It will find ways and means to facilitate medical research at the
Institution.
(vi) It will make recommendations to Government regarding foreign
studentship/scholarships, research fellowships, foreign representations and
professional conferences.
(vii) It will strive for the expansion of the medical library.
(viii)It will consider any question referred to it by the Government, the
Pakistan Medical and Dental Council or any educational authority and report its
opinion and recommendations in that regard.
