rules of admission
1. The minimum
qualification for a candidate to appear in the Entrance Test for admission
to medical Institutions of Sindh is Intermediate Science (pre-medical
group) in "B" Grade of Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur or Larkana Board of
Higher Secondary Education or any equivalent examination of any other
Board / body recognized by IBCC. Candidates obtaining marks less than 60%
are not eligible.
2. The following candidates shall be eligible to appear in the
Entrance Test for admission to 1st year M.B.B.S./ B.D.S. in the Medical
Institution in Sindh for the academic session 2003-2004.
(i) Those who are permanent residents and domiciled in any district
of Sindh.
(ii) Those who have passed Intermediate Science (Pre-medical group)
Annual & Supplementary Examination of 2002 and Annual Examination of 2003
or equivalent examination and secured at least 60% marks. This will apply
to reserved seats as well. Ten Marks will be deducted from the total
marks secured, from those who have passed their Intermediate (Pre-Medical
) Examination in Annual or Supplementary examination 2002.
(iii) Candidates producing equivalence certificates of examination
other than Intermediate Board of Pakistan shall have to produce a
certificate from the I.B.C.C., Islamabad : stating.
b) The Examination is recognized as Equivalent to F.Sc (Pre-Medical) by
the I.B.C.C. It shall be the responsibility of the candidates to clear
their cases through the IBCC, Islamabad for recognition of their
qualification and the Equivalence Certificate must be attached with the
application form before the closing date.
c) Provisional letter of Equivalence issued by IBCC shall not be
entertained for sitting in the entrance test.
d) The candidates have obtained marks Equivalent to un-adjusted 60% marks
according to formula laid down by the IBCC Islamabad.
e) The Equivalence Certificates of such candidates will not be accepted if
he/she has not studied and passed the subject of English,Physics,Chemistry
and Biology in his / her 11th and 12th grade / A-level or other equivalent
examination recognized by the IBCC, Islamabad.
The chairman Admission Board reserves the rights to scrutinize the
educational document of such applicants. In case any discrepancy is found
with regard to the eligibility of the calculation of marks, of any
applicant he will refer the matter back to the IBCC for reconsideration in
the light of discrepancy.

3. Candidate are required to submit Separate applications for each
category of admission in which he/she wants to apply.
4. All seats in various districts are open for competition within
such district and no body shall be denied admission on the ground of race,
religion, colour, caste or sex.
5. Competition in each district shall take place between candidates
of that district. Thus a candidate from District 'X' shall not compete
with a candidate of district 'Y'.
6. The seats, which remain vacant at the time of selection, shall be
filled by admitting the next candidate on combined merit from the same
district. If the seat still remains vacant the same shall be filled in by
the consideration of candidates on combined merit from the tagged
districts.
In case a seat falls vacant during (90) Ninety Days of the academic year
of admission, the same shall be filled in by adopting the aforesaid
procedure. Any seat falling vacant thereafter shall not be filled and
shall stand forfeited.
Explanation:-For the purpose of this para the first academic year means
the period between the date of the Commencement of the first year class
and the date of the First Professional M.B.B.S. part I examination in case
of M.B.B.S. and 1st Professional B.D.S examination in case of B.D.S.
7. Application forms and this Prospectus can be had at the
prescribed fee from all the five medical institutions in Sindh.
8. Every application for admission shall be accompanied by a
non-refundable Entrance Test Fee of Rs.1000 (Rupees one thousand Only) in
the form of Pay-order or Demand Draft in the name of Principal/ Head of
selection center. Every application for admission shall be accompanied by
three photocopies of the following documents duly attested by a Government
Servant in Grade-18 or above, along with ORIGINAL documents:
(a) Matriculation Certificate or Original Equivalent Certificate.
(b) Matriculation Marks Sheet or Original Equivalence Marks Sheet by
I.B.C.C.
(c) Intermediate Science Marks Sheet or Equivalent Certificate by I.B.C.C.
(d) Original Hafiz-e-Qur'an Certificate (Optional).
(e) Permanent Residence Certificate (form-C) in accordance with Law/Rules
or in the absence thereof in the form determined by the Government .
(f) Domicile Certificate of Father (on form P-1). The domicile certificate
of mother shall only be accepted in cases where father has expired and no
such certificate was issued to him OR there has been remarriage/separation
for which a valid document from Judge of the Court has been produced.
Domicile certificate of the candidate can also be accepted either if
he/she has attained age of 21 years or both the parents are not alive
(supported by death certificate) and no such certificate was issued to
them.
In case of female married candidates the domicile of the husband will be
acceptable provided domicile of the husband and PRC of the candidate
pertain to same district.
(g) Any candidate found using Domicile/P.R.C of more than one district /
place in Pakistan shall be disqualified for admission in any medical
institutions in Sindh province.
(h) Five affidavit/undertaking on Rs.20/- stamp paper as per specimen
given in appendix I, II, III, IV & V regarding not having got admission in
any other Medical College or Medical University in the country or
production of false documents.
(i) The candidate's National Identity Card, if the candidate has attained
the age of eighteen years, or ' ' form if he/she is below the age of
eighteen years.
(j) Six passport size photographs bearing name.
(k) Where the candidate having failed to get selected against district
merit seat on the basis of merit of his/her adjusted marks, desires to be
considered for selection against the seats reserved, disabled and on self
finance (local & overseas) he/she shall also attach, duly attested photo
copies, of the following documents:-
i) Domicile certificate of the respective parent.
ii) Those candidates applying on Self Finance (Local or
Overseas) will submit Pay Order of prescribed amount.
(l) Quota seats for the Disabled candidates: Candidates applying for
reserved seats for disabled persons having failed to be selected against
the district merit seats on the basis of their over all merit after the
Entry Test will be subject to the production of a certificate by
Department of Social & Welfare Government of Sindh, Karachi to the effect:
1. That he /she is a disable candidate.
2. That he/she is mentally fit and physically able to carry on studies and
perform professional duties after qualifying MBBS.
3. A disability is defined as that degree of physical disability which
puts the candidate at disadvantage as compared to a normal person for
acquiring education before entering medical institutions, but otherwise
capable of performing his / her duties satisfactorily as a medical
practitioner.
4. His /Her disability should not be of such a severe degree that makes a
candidate unable to acquire medical education or work as a doctor.
5. Selection against the reserved seats will be made from the list of the
disabled candidates strictly on combined merit basis of all centers after
entry test.
Note: A Medical Board as described below shall be constituted by the
Health Department Government of Sindh to examine the candidates and
establish the disability of the candidates according to sub-paras 3 & 4.
The Board shall award a certificate to this account for inclusion of the
name of the candidates in the list of the disabled candidates.
B.D.S. COURSE
1. The same rules and conditions for admission to B.D.S course are
applicable as mentioned in the Rules of admission given in Chapter III.
2. Foreign nationals seeking admission against Twelve seats should
submit their application through Economic Affairs Division Federal
Government of Pakistan, who will make selections and allocations. The
Federal Ministry will direct the nominated candidates together with the
application, and all necessary documents directly to the Vice Chancellor,
Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences, Jamshoro under intimation
to the Government of Sindh. No application received directly shall be
considered.
3. The courses of studies for B.D.S. normally extend over a period
of four academic years.
4. An examination for the degree of Bachelor of Dental Surgery (B.D.S)
shall be held twice a year on such dates as may be fixed by the
University. The Examination shall consist of four parts, entitled
respectively by First, Second, Third and Final Professional Examination
for the Bachelor of Dental Surgery Degree.
5. On having attended not less that 75% of the full courses in each
subject of examinations in which he/she is appearing, provided that the
University or the determining authority under regulation shall have power
to exclude any candidate from the examination if it is satisfied that such
candidate in not a fit person to be admitted thereto.
6. The other general rules for examination discipline and Conduct
shall be the same as for M.B.B.S.
